Family and Community Services (FCS) is now offering virtual counselling in its efforts to help residents feel safe, supported and connected. At this time, residents are invited to phone FCS to access supports, including phone or virtual counselling.

County unveils new public art with an interactive addition

A 20–foot sculpture of a bulrush featuring a dragonfly finding a mosquito for lunch was installed on Wednesday, May 6 at the ArrKann Spray Park and Playground in Ardrossan Regional Park. The latest in Strathcona County’s public art collection, “Eyes on the Prize” was created by Canadian artist, William Frymire.

Final phase of construction for Wye Road

Strathcona County is nearing the end of five kilometres of improvements on Wye Road. The final phase of construction between Estate Drive and Clover Bar Road will start after the May long weekend.

Water service restored to southeast rural Strathcona County

The Highway 14 Regional Water Commission water main repair is complete, and service has been restored to residents in the area. Effective immediately, the water ban for Collingwood Cove and Antler Lake is lifted.

Zero per cent property tax increase and penalty deferral

In light of the impacts of COVID-19 on our community, Strathcona County Council approved proceeding with no municipal tax increase tax on 2020 property taxes, and a penalty deferral on late tax payment.

Approved bylaws establish COVID-19 recovery task forces

Council approved three new bylaws, supporting the creation of task forces to guide the community’s short, medium and long-term recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. These task forces, established at the direction of Council to engage the community in helping the county develop an overall strategy, will focus on three areas of recovery: governance, economic resilience, and citizen and community support.

On May 4, 2020, at 6:14 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to a 911 call of a male with a firearm at a residence on Range Road 222.

Water outage and water ban in southeast rural Strathcona County

Effective immediately, Strathcona County is informing water customers in the area approximately east of Range Road 220 and south of Highway 16, within Ward 7, that there is a water outage until further notice. This outage is due to a water main break on the Highway 14 Regional Water Commission line.
