Each year, the County completes construction projects in support of the Recreation and Culture Strategy.
Projects include a range of amenities, from new trails, gazebos and picnic shelters, to basketball courts, skate parks and playground expansions.
New picnic shelters
Gazebos and picnic shelters provide a welcoming space for social gatherings and improve safety and accessibility, while offering shade and shelter from the elements.

Wes Hosford playground expansion
Construction update
The playground is scheduled to be open to the public on August 30.
We appreciate your patience while landscaping work is completed.
Wes Hosford School Parent Council have partnered with Strathcona County through the Community Partnership Process to expand the existing playground.
This project will add more accessible and inclusive equipment, including sensory features, a climbing structure, and a disc swing with rubber surface beneath for universal accessibility.
Construction will be underway in July and August.

Multi-use trails provide residents with opportunities to actively connect to surrounding neighbourhoods and experience a greater quality of life.

Streetscape revitalization
This program seeks to beautify arterial roadways within Sherwood Park and rural hamlets. These projects provide a healthier looking, greener community that can instill a sense of community pride for residents and visitors.
2024 location:
- Median planting on Baseline Road from Clover Bar Road to Hwy 21
