Subsidized fares

Strathcona County Transit believes that everyone should have access to transportation. In partnership with Family and Community Services, programs have been implemented to assist qualified residents in covering the cost of accessing Strathcona County Transit.

Everybody Rides program

The Everybody Rides program was created to improve access to transit services for residents who have limited income or are receiving AISH. Qualifying applicants can purchase conventional Adult monthly commuter and local passes for all registered members of the household at a discounted rate.

Effective July 1, 2018 Mobility Bus clients who have limited income will be eligible for the Everybody Rides program. They will have a choice between two passes:

  • Mobility Bus Commuter pass
  • Mobility Bus Local pass

When applying, remember to bring:

  • Identification (showing birth date and residency) 
  • Proof of income for all members of the household (i.e. most recent income notice of assessment), and proof of GIS receipt if applicable.

Senior Off-Peak Local pass program

The Senior Off-Peak bus pass is available free of charge to qualified seniors and is valid for use on conventional local transit service during off-peak hours only.

To qualify for this free bus pass you must:

  • Be 65 years of age or older
  • Have a household income of less than $50,000/year
  • Be a resident of Strathcona County

After qualifying, you will be given a package of monthly passes. Please store the passes for future months in a secure place.

Rules of use:

  • These passes are non-transferable and may be used only by the qualified senior.
  • The passes are valid:
    • Monday to Friday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and after 6 p.m.
    • Weekends and holidays, any time of day.
    • Outside of these times, regular fares apply and other fare media is required.
  • Passes are valid for travel within Sherwood Park only on regular transit .
  • Passes are not valid on Mobility bus. For more information on Mobility bus, call 780-449-9680.

Senior's subsidized annual pass

Seniors residing in Strathcona County who are recipients of the Federal Government Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) are eligible to purchase a subsidized annual pass for the calendar year. Proof of GIS is required.

After qualifying, you will be given a package of monthly passes. Please store the passes for future months in a secure place.
