Arc

• Arc is an electronic payment card system used in the region for transit riders.
• Arc is available for all riders at use conventional transit services or Mobility Bus.

With an Arc card users have monthly fare caps. The caps mean users won't pay more than a maximum each month based on their profile type and the service type which they travel. We recommend to all riders, keeping at least a $5 balance in your Arc purse to avoid seeing either a low balance warning (yellow) or a deny travel warning (red) near the end of each month. When a riders purse has between $1 and $4 the (yellow) low balance warning will appear, even if the monthly cap has been reached. To avoid this the rider will need to top-up their purse. When a riders purse falls below $1.00 the (red) deny travel warning will appear, even if the monthly cap has been reached. The Arc card requires a minimum balance of at least $1.00 in order for the card to successful accept taps.

• Reduced monthly caps are only available for riders that register their Arc cards. To register and apply for an age or student based concession profile go on-line to myArc.ca or visit the Bethel Transit Terminal.
• Subsidy profiles are only available for Strathcona County residents that have been approved by Family and Community Services. Visit the Bethel Transit Terminal in person after approval with FCS to register your Arc account.

• Children 12 years of age and under ride free when accompanied by a fare paying rider.

• All former pre-purchased paper tickets (non Arc) are now expired and not accepted for travel. 
• Mobility Bus rural trips - the preloaded Arc card or cash fare must be used, no single trip tickets.
• Mobility Bus - Mandatory attendants travel for free when identified by a health care practitioner as required, and documented on the application form.

Cash fares

• Cash fares are the same for all riders.
• Drivers cannot give change.

When and where to buy

• You can buy your Arc card or load value to it:
  • in-person at the terminals
  • MyArc
  • at various retail locations or
  • using an Arc vending machine

  Monday to Friday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  Saturday: 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  Sunday: Closed
   
• Ordze Transit Centre, 970 Ordze Road - view map
  Last two working days and the first working day of every month.
  7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Subsidized fares

Residents can apply for subsidized transit based on income. Arc is available for those individuals and families that may qualify for Subsidized fares.

Transfers

Sometimes your trip may require a transfer between different buses or services (LRT). Strathcona County Transit works with our regional partners in Edmonton and St. Albert to help you reach your destination.

If using an Arc card, the transfer fee is deducted directly from the Arc purse if there are transfer rules between the agencies. If there are no transfers rules in place between the agencies then a rider must pay full fare for both services.

If using an Arc ticket, transferability is based on the validity of the product loaded.

If using a another agencies valid paper product or accepted paper transfer,  a transfer fee must be paid in cash to the operator once you board the bus. Please use the charts below to determine your transfer fee, and remember to request a paper transfer as your proof of payment.

Riders using Edmonton Transit System (ETS) tickets and transfers to Strathcona County buses

*Edmonton Transit period passes load to an Arc card (ie. Senior Annual and Subsidized Monthly) are not valid on SCT. Riders must pay the full cash fare or the flat fare rate with an Arc card.

**Edmonton Transit paper tickets will no longer be accepted for travel effective January 1, 2026.
