Reduce loads. Protect our roads.

We ask that heavy vehicles reduce axle weight to 75 per cent whenever possible.

Recent heavy rainfall has softened road bases throughout the County, making them more vulnerable to cracking under heavy commercial loads.

Significant rainfall in June 2026 caused widespread localized flooding across Strathcona County. This has resulted in several road closures in our community.

Our crews are actively working to assess, repair and reopen impacted roads.

Most roads impacted by flooding will only be closed for only a few days or weeks. Some roads require more significant repairs and will be closed for a longer period.

Road closure signs and concrete barriers block a rural road, with orange traffic cones marking the closure under a cloudy sky.

Extended road closures

The below locations had more significant damage during June’s rainfall event; therefore, extended road closures are required. Both roads are expected to reopen in the fall of 2026.

  • Range Road 232 between Township Roads 534 and 535

  • Township Road 534 between Range Road 231 and Highway 21
