Houselessness Outreach Pilot project
In the 2026 budget, Council approved funding for a three-year Houselessness Outreach Pilot project that will further support people at risk of, or currently experiencing, homelessness.
As part of this pilot, Family and Community Services has hired a Community Outreach Navigator. Working closely with RCMP and Enforcement Services, the Community Outreach Navigator provides direct support and proactively engages with unhoused individuals and those at risk of losing their housing. This position also plays a key role in working with regional partners to ensure individuals get the essential support and services they need.
The Community Outreach Navigator is available by referral from Family and Community Services and RCMP and Enforcement Services. To connect individuals with support, contact Family and Community Services at 780-464-4044 or RCMP and Enforcement Services 24/7 non-emergency line at 780-467-7741.
In addition to the Community Outreach Navigator, work is also underway to identify the level of need for services like transportation, wellness checks and outreach activities outside of standard operating hours.
Updates regarding this pilot project will be shared on this webpage; check back for more information.
