New On-Demand Transit App available July 10, 2023

On July 10, 2023, Strathcona County Transit will be moving to a new On-Demand booking system and app. The change is a result of valuable transit user experience feedback that further improves the On-Demand local service as the pilot continues through to December of 2024.

Gallery@501 presents “On the Surface”, an exhibit that questions reality, memory and self-image

Strathcona County is pleased to present “On the Surface”, a new summer exhibition featuring artwork by Jessica Plattner and Jen Pankratz. The exhibit opens at Gallery@501 on July 4 and shows until August 12, 2023.

Strathcona County moves to fire advisory

Strathcona County has reduced its fire ban to a fire advisory effective immediately, due to cooler temperatures, rain and resource availability. Under a fire advisory, fire and fireworks permits are valid however they may be temporarily suspended based on the current conditions. Outdoor recreational fire pits and all barbecues are now allowed.

Parent and caregiver survey aims to enhance support and resources in Strathcona County

Beginning Thursday, June 15, Strathcona County’s Family Resource Network (FRN) is asking parents and caregivers of children from newborn to 18 years old to complete a short online survey. Feedback from the survey will be used to help shape the resources and support provided by the Family Resource Network to parents and caregivers in the County.

Increase in non-emergency calls to 9-1-1

Strathcona County’s Emergency Communications Centre has recorded a significant increase in the number of accidental calls to 9-1-1.

Fire ban re-issued for Strathcona County

A fire ban has been declared for all of Strathcona County, effective at 12 noon on June 8. The ban applies to all rural areas, hamlets and Sherwood Park.

Edmonton-Strathcona County Footbridge Project celebrates sod turning

Mayor Amarjeet Sohi, Strathcona County Acting Mayor Corey-Ann Hartwick, River Valley Alliance Executive Director Kristine Archibald, and Métis Nation of Alberta Region 4 President Alfred L’Hirondelle officially marked the start of construction on the Edmonton-Strathcona County Footbridge with a sod turning event today.
