Strathcona County honours seniors

June 5 to 11 is Seniors’ Week in Strathcona County. The County will celebrate the community’s seniors and older adults as part of the province’s annual Seniors’ Week. Every year, the County joins municipalities and organizations from across the province to honour seniors.

Strathcona County’s FireFit team to host Regional Championship

On June 3, the fittest firefighters around the province and territories will be competing in the FireFit Alberta/Yukon Regional Championship at Kinsmen Leisure Centre. Competitors will be put through a timed obstacle course made up of various skills and abilities required in firefighting.

These are just a few of the individuals, businesses, and organizations among the 2023 Strathcona County Awards of Excellence recipients.

Final tax increase comes in lower than expected

Strathcona County’s final combined tax increase for 2023 (including municipal, education, library, and Heartland Housing) is 2.9 per cent, lower than originally anticipated largely due to the provincial education tax staying steady and growth in the County.

FIRE BAN IN EFFECT FOR STRATHCONA COUNTY

A fire ban has been declared for all of Strathcona County, effective at 12 noon on May 1. The ban applies to all rural areas, hamlets and Sherwood Park.
