Important information

  • Fire permits are valid for one year from the date of approval.
  • Applicants must be the legal landowner, or have written permission from the legal landowner to obtain a fire permit.
  • While there is no charge for obtaining a fire permit, there are penalties for burning without one or for burning in violation of fire permit regulations.
  • Prior to each burn, residents must either call or text the Burning Status Line to confirm if burning is allowed. If you are going to be burning for several hours, call back periodically to make sure it is still safe to continue. The burning status may change based on current or forecasted environmental conditions in the County. Conditions are monitored hourly between 6 a.m. and midnight.
