Strathcona County has installed land acknowledgment plaques along the Heritage Mile, as part of its recognition for National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21.

While the Government of Alberta announced its provincial Stage 2 relaunch as of June 12, 2020, the responsibility to safely operate municipal programs and services remains with Strathcona County.

Strathcona County annually donates computers, devices and other electronic equipment from its evergreen cycle program to schools and community support initiatives.

Beginning June 15, 2020, Strathcona County Enforcement Services will begin using eTicketing technology for traffic violations issued under the Provincial Offences Procedure Act.

Residents and the business community are invited to provide feedback on a proposed direction for tourism in Strathcona County. A draft tourism strategy has been developed and will be presented through a digital face-to-face.

Strathcona County Transit continues to adapt its services during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of July 1, Transit will safely resume fare collection and front-door boarding.

Strathcona County is kicking off a review of its community waste management strategy. Residents are invited to share their thoughts on how to reduce the amount of waste produced and the amount being sent to landfill.

Mayor Rod Frank, on behalf of Strathcona County Council, is pleased to announce the appointment of Darrell Reid to the position of Chief Commissioner. His position is effective July 13, 2020.

Strathcona County is excited to announce Canada Day celebrations will continue; virtually. The County has been working hard with municipalities around the Edmonton Metropolitan Region to create a partnered Canada Day celebration.
