Cram a cruiser for the Strathcona Food Bank

On Friday, September 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Strathcona County Enforcement Services and Strathcona County RCMP will be collecting donations for the Strathcona Food Bank at the Save-on-Foods, Sobeys and Superstore Baseline Road locations. Staff will be onsite with a police cruiser and are encouraging shoppers to cram the cruiser with food donations.

“Strathcona County Enforcement Services and Strathcona County RCMP are excited to come together and support our community with the Cram a Cruiser event,” says Tom Sutton, director, RCMP and Enforcement Services. “It’s important to give back to the community we serve and help those in need, especially as we head into the busiest time of year for the Food Bank.”

In 2022, the Strathcona Food Bank distributed 4106 hampers and served 12,165 people. The fall and winter months traditionally also see an increase in need at the food bank and we hope the community can be generous in helping us collect non-perishable donations.

The food bank’s most needed donation items include:

  • Shampoo
  • Toothpaste
  • Sanitary napkins and tampons
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned meat
  • Canned salmon

All donations collected from the Cram a Cruiser event stay in Strathcona County, in support of the Strathcona Food Bank. In 2022 the event collected 1477lbs of food and over $500.
