The Strathcona County 2026 Alberta Summer Games Society (ASG) is recruiting multiple volunteer positions with responsibilities leading up to the Games, which will occur from July 16-19, 2026.

Volunteer Board of Directors

Strathcona County is seeking general Board of Directors members, as well as a Director of Administration and Finance.

Note: volunteer positions on the Board of Directors include a commitment over 2.5 years, with monthly board meetings and increased commitments as the Games event nears (July 16-19, 2026).

General members

General members will make decisions regarding the overall Games in conjunction with other members of the Board of Directors. They will support with the overall planning, execution, and timing of the 2026 Alberta Summer Games (ASG) and related events, within the framework of the Government of Alberta Games Unit Operations Manuals, 2026 ASG Host Society by-laws and Strathcona County municipal policies and procedures.

Director of Administration and Finance

The individual in this role should have extensive experience with bookkeeping, financial monitoring, and reporting. The position works with the Strathcona County 2026 ASG Society Board chair and the County staff to ensure the financial health of the Board and is responsible for the Society’s financial compliance. This position would help develop and implement financial policies and procedures of the Strathcona County 2026 ASG Society and ensure compliance to provincial grant and County service agreement.


Volunteer Youth Ambassador (16Y-20Y)

Note: Youth Ambassador volunteer position includes a commitment over 2.5 years, with increased responsibilities as the Games event nears (July 16-19, 2026).

The Youth Ambassador will be a key link to youth in the community and will serve as a representative/voice for youth at the Games through building excitement, sharing Games highlights and acting as a community ambassador. 

In this role, the Youth Ambassador will work to support the Government of Alberta Games Unit and County staff on the delivery of the 2026 games through profiling the event with the Friends Of Games partnership portfolio and public speaking / reporting.
