Project update

This project is now complete. Thanks to everyone who provided input during the traffic review.

Construction of the features will take place with scheduled rehabilitation of the roads in the neighbourhood in 2024/25.

The final traffic safety and management plan outlining road changes is available here.

The Foxboro and area traffic review addressed vehicle speed and pedestrian safety in Foxboro, Foxhaven, Regency Park and The Ridge neighbourhoods. The purpose of the project was to identify improvements for traffic management and safety that can be incorporated during upcoming neighbourhood rehabilitation.

Input from area residents, along with the school’s traffic impact assessment and up-to-date traffic data, were used to develop a final traffic safety and management plan that was presented to Council on September 12, 2023. The  plan (466.5 KB) was designed to balance community desires for both safety and accessibility, while ensuring roads align with current design standards and will safely manage both vehicle and pedestrian traffic when the new school opens in 2025.

Improvements will be constructed with upcoming, planned rehabilitation prior to the opening of the new École Claudette-et-Denis-Tardif in Florian Park in 2025.

A full project report is available here (4.5 MB) .

Public input for improvements

Area residents were asked to share their thoughts on preliminary traffic management and safety recommendations for physical changes to Ridgemont Way, Regency Drive (east of Ridgemont Way), Foxboro Drive and Foxhaven Drive.

These recommendations were based on engineering review and the results of Phase 1 engagement:

Results of the second phase of engagement are now available:

Ongoing considerations for traffic safety and management

School traffic safety partnership

The Strathcona County School Traffic Safety Partnership (STSP) will work closely with École Claudette-et-Denis-Tardif administrators and student transportation, and the RCMP and Enforcement Services to ensure a plan is developed and communicated to parents at the school. They will also ensure that the appropriate signs are in place to enforce the plan prior to the school opening.

Ongoing road monitoring

This plan is based on current and anticipated traffic in the neighbourhoods. Once the new school is open, ongoing reassessment will be undertaken to ensure that the roads are operating as expected, and safety is maintained. This includes monitoring and adjustments to arterial (signalized) intersections at the entrances to the neighbourhoods.

Based on the current engineering review, plans have been made to adjust road markings on Foxboro Drive and Foxhaven Drive east of their intersections with Clover Bar Road to clarify lane use with upcoming rehabilitation. Plans are available  here. (217.4 KB)
