Province relaxing some restrictions under Open for Summer plan

The Government of Alberta announced their Open for Summer relaunch plan on May 26 that impacts Strathcona County businesses, services and residents.
Recreation and culture program updates
As of June 1, outdoor fields, specific County spray parks and registered outdoor wellness programs will open with restrictions to adhere to provincial guidelines. More details about wellness programs will be released soon. Strathcona Wilderness Centre hours will be extended until 9 p.m. daily. Outdoor courts, playgrounds and trails remain open.
Registration for half-day July and August summer programs will begin June 8.
Indoor fitness programs including Wellness Centre timeslots remain closed under current provincial restrictions.
Virtual programs, including adult group fitness classes, are available for registration at RecOnline.Strathcona.ca.

The County is studying stages two and three of the Province’s plan to assess facility and operational needs and plan for programs, staffing and events.
Well-being supports
Mental health, financial, parenting and other supports are available by calling Family and Community Services at 780-464-4044 or visiting strathcona.ca/fcs.
Business updates
Residents are encouraged to support local businesses by shopping local, sharing positive reviews and spreading the word about local shops and restaurants with friends, families and social circles.
Effective June 1, personal and wellness services such as hair and nail services can resume by appointment only.
In addition, restaurants can re-open outdoor eating spaces, seating a maximum of four people per table. Table occupants must be members of the same household or two close contacts for people living alone.
Strathcona County is allowing restaurants to expand existing or open outdoor eating areas. Please contact Planning and Development Services at 780-464-8080 for more information.

The Government of Alberta’s Small and Medium Enterprise Relaunch Grant intake has been extended to June 30. Businesses are invited to find more information at alberta.ca/sme-relaunch-grant.aspx.
