Community Grants program open for applications
March 28, 2024

Strathcona County residents and organizations can apply now for Social Framework Community Grants to foster positive changes in our community. Applications are open until May 1, 2024.
“Community grants are a great way for everyone to play a part in making their neighbourhood and Strathcona County a better place to live,” says Mayor Rod Frank.
The community grants program supports residents, non-profit organizations and community groups who are interested in community safety and well-being, have a passion for leading community building gatherings and projects and who want to make a difference.
Community Connection grants of up to $450 are available to residents to support neighbourhood events or activities that promote safety, social connections and well-being in Strathcona County.
Community Change grants of up to $2,000 are available to residents, community groups and non-profit organizations for projects that create positive social change in Strathcona County.
“Strathcona County Council is united in support of this grant program,” says Mayor Frank. “The grants have been used in a variety of creative ways to inspire change, and the best part is seeing people come together to celebrate our amazing community.”
In 2023, over 180 approved grant projects produced street concerts, neighbourhood block parties, scavenger hunts, a Junior Volunteer program, a Living Christmas tree project and a community time capsule to celebrate 100 years.
“Our vision to strengthen social ties in rural Strathcona County and across generations aligned so well with the aim of the Community Change Grant,” says Cara Shan, Community Change Grant recipient. “The application and reporting process was accessible, straightforward and the grant was a good fit for our local project.”
Residents and groups who have questions or would like to discuss grant ideas prior to applying can call 780-464-4044 and speak with a member of the Social Framework Grants team. For more information, including the full grant guidelines and application process, visit strathcona.ca/CommunityGrants.
