Celebrate the new year with family-friendly fun

Ring in 2025 with Strathcona County’s annual New Year’s Festival!

Join the celebration on Tuesday, December 31 starting at 6 p.m. Free activities will take place at Broadmoor Lake Park, including Festival Place and the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre. The evening will wrap up with fireworks at 8 p.m., early enough for the whole family to enjoy! Remember to dress warmly as activities will take place both indoors and outdoors.

Festival-goers can enjoy recreational skating and shinny hockey, cabane à sucre, holiday crafts, aerialist and fire dance performances and more!

Fireworks are best viewed from Broadmoor Lake Park on the plaza. If you are watching from your vehicle, tune into 106.7 FM to hear the choreographed music.

Event accessibility

Free earplugs will be available at event information booths to aid with sensory needs or sound sensitivities. View the accessibility map on the New Year's Festival website to see how best to enjoy the festival in your own way. Earplug handout locations, accessible facility entrances and washrooms are shown on the map, along with loud areas and various ground surfaces you may encounter at the event.

How to get to the festival

Free Transit Park N’ Ride will be available for attendees departing the Bethel Transit Terminal beginning at 5:30 p.m. Buses will run every 15 minutes to Festival Place and back. The last departure is at 8:30 p.m. from Festival Place.

Drivers are reminded that Festival Way will be closed from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on December 31. Resident-only parking along Oak Street will also be in effect from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

In the spirit of giving, attendees are encouraged to bring donations for the Strathcona Food Bank.
