Residents invited to have a positive impact on their community through Community Grants program

Strathcona County residents are invited to apply for two types of Social Framework Community Grants to support local connections or projects that foster positive changes in the community. Applications are open until May 1, 2023.

A safe, supported and connected community is the foundation of the Strathcona County Social Framework. Strathcona County’s grant funding supports residents and groups who are interested in community safety and well-being, have a passion for leading community building gatherings and projects, and who want to make a difference.

Community Connection grants of up to $425 are available for residents to support neighbourhood events or activities that promote social connection, inclusion and well-being in Strathcona County. Last year, 119 applications were approved to strengthen community connections. Past examples include street concerts, scavenger hunts and neighbourhood barbecues.

Community Change grants of up to $2,000 are available to residents, community groups and non-profit organizations for projects that create positive social change in Strathcona County. In 2022, ten projects were implemented in Strathcona County. Projects included block emergency preparedness kits, a community garden that provided a gathering space and food security, and campaigns to reward positive behaviour and safe practices at crosswalks and bike paths.

Visit strathcona.ca/CommunityGrants for more information, including the full grant guidelines and application process. For questions or to discuss grant ideas prior to applying, call 780-464-4044 and speak with a Community Investment Coordinator.

Applications are open March 31 to May 1, 2023. Apply today and have a positive impact on your community.
