Strathcona County support for Ukraine

In solidarity and support for the people of Ukraine, Strathcona County raised the Ukrainian flag this afternoon at its Community Centre’s Volunteer Plaza. The flag-raising was supported by students from the St. Theresa Ukrainian Bilingual Program singing Ukraine’s national anthem. Beginning this evening, the Community Centre and Festival Place will be lit in blue and yellow.

“Strathcona County is home to a vibrant population of Ukrainian-Canadians, many of whom are fearing for family and friends in Ukraine,” says Mayor Rod Frank. “Strathcona County sends its thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the events unfolding overseas.”
