County Yard Waste services moving to new location

Strathcona County’s drop-off site for yard waste will be moving to a new location as of Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

After that date yard waste services will be available at the old Outback RV site at 53213 Range Rd 231, North of the Yellowhead Highway just off Clover Bar Road.

“We’re very excited to have this new yard waste site,” says Leah Seabrook, Manager of Waste Services. “This new larger site will allow us to more efficiently manage yard waste and reduce congestion at Broadview at the same time.”

Yard waste drop-off is a popular service for residents who have too much brush and yard waste to dispose of in their green organics carts.

Residents can drop off branches under 15 cm/6" in diameter, maximum 6' length, brush, grass clippings, leaves and plants and garden trimmings.

Passenger vehicle loads and trailers 8’ and under are free, with a fee of $20 for trailers between 8’ and 12’, and $50 for trailers over 12’. Monthly passes are also available for large volume residential users or annual permits for commercial users

  • The new site will be open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • In addition to yard waste the site will offer free mulch and compost in spring and fall on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Hours will change with the seasons, with shorter hours during spring and fall and much reduced hours during winter. Current hours will be posted on the website at strathcona.ca/YardWasteServices
  • The new site will have separate areas for residential users and contractors.
  • Official naming of the site will be approved by Council in the fall.
