Residents invited to share their opinions on healthy aging

Strathcona County residents will have opportunities this year to share their thoughts about healthy aging in our community.

“It will be important to hear from as many citizens as possible and examine existing programs and services,” says Mayor Rod Frank. “Doing so will ensure our community supports the diverse needs of Strathcona County’s older adults, both now and in the future.”

Launching in April, Strathcona County will use a variety of methods to capture the input of a representative sample of Strathcona County’s older adults and better understand their diverse needs and priorities, including the need for a senior's hub in Sherwood Park.

The information will be added to existing research to shape the vision of healthy aging in Strathcona County and provide recommendations to Council to achieve this vision.

"This strategy is a vital step in investing in an age-friendly community, and a key will be the data derived from a representative scientific survey based on neutral questions,” says Mayor Frank.

Opportunities to be heard will begin in April and continue through the summer and fall. Council will be presented with a report of findings and recommendations in late fall to inform decisions and next steps.

Interested residents can sign up for project updates and be notified when the project opens by joining County Voice and following the Healthy Aging project at strathcona.ca/HealthyAging.
