Census 2024 – Count me in!

Starting May 1, Strathcona County will be conducting a municipal census. In early May, each household in the County will receive a census PIN letter, outlining instructions for the seamless completion of the census online.

We strongly encourage residents to use the online platform for its efficiency, convenience, and security. Starting May 13, our dedicated census workers will conduct door-to-door collection for households that have not yet participated, while the online option remains open throughout this period.

An online census is both a cost-effective and environmentally responsible approach for the County. Residents will find it to be a swift and secure process, enhancing the overall experience. For those without computer access, a phone option is available to provide census information.

The census collects essential information such as the number of residents, ages, genders, dwelling types, primary language and length of residency in Strathcona County. All personal information remains confidential, with only aggregate numbers being reported.

Participation in the census helps the County gain valuable insights into the community's needs. This data informs crucial decisions regarding development and contributes to planning for services and infrastructure, including roads, transit, emergency services, and various municipal programs.

For those interested in joining the Census Team, recruitment will begin on March 25. Online application forms will be accessible at strathcona.ca/census, and in-person applications will be accepted at the Census Office. The office is conveniently located at 160 Festival Way in Sherwood Park, open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The last municipal census was conducted in 2022. More information about the municipal census, past population counts and reports, and how to apply to work the census is available at strathcona.ca/census.
