Strathcona County welcomes new Fire Chief

On September 12, Strathcona County welcomed Martin Paulson as the 10th Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Services.

Chief Paulson comes to Strathcona County from Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) with over 30 years of experience, including 15 years in leadership. He started with VFRS as a firefighter and worked his way through the ranks. His most recent role was Assistant Deputy Chief – Operations where he worked closely with partner agencies including BC Ambulance Service, police and other departments in the City of Vancouver.

“We are pleased to welcome Chief Paulson to Strathcona County. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to emergency response. His leadership will guide Strathcona County Emergency Services staff as they continue to adapt to serve the needs of our community,” says Mayor Rod Frank.

Strathcona County Emergency Services is an integrated emergency services department that provides fire, rescue, emergency medical service (EMS) and hazardous materials response. Emergency Services is also responsible for emergency communications, emergency management, corporate business continuity, fire investigation, inspection, prevention and public education programs.
