Global week of inclusion event

Strathcona County residents and local businesses are invited to attend Strathcona County's first annual Global Week of Inclusion event on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Strathcona County Community Centre Agora.

Come drop by this event, which kicks off the celebration of the Special Olympics Alberta Winter Games 2023 hosted in the County (February 24 to 26, 2023). The goal is to promote and connect regional community groups and organizations who provide inclusive and adaptive programs and sport opportunities for those with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Groups attending to showcase their programs include Special Olympics Alberta, Volt Hockey, Robin Hood Association, The Steadward Centre, Edmonton Adaptive Sports Association, Canadian Adaptive Snowsports Edmonton Zone, Winder Inclusive Communities Service, Strathcona Wilderness Centre, Strathcona County Aquatics.

The County will introduce three Recreation and Games ambassadors from the region at the Global Week of Inclusion event. These ambassadors offer a unique background on the experience of a Special Olympics athlete. This will be their first speaking engagement leading up to the Special Olympics Alberta Winter Games 2023.
