Council approves six-hole disc golf course at Greengrove Park

Council approved the implementation of a six-hole disc golf course at Greengrove Park, following the review of a pilot five-hole disc golf course at this Sherwood Park location. Adding one more hole to provide a six-hole disc golf urban course allows players to play three rounds for an 18-hole disc golf course experience, while still ensuring ample park space is available for other park uses.

This past summer, the pilot five-hole disc golf course was trialed and evaluated at the end of the season based on utilization data, existing policies and frameworks, and feedback gathered through a community survey. The survey, limited to Strathcona County residents, heard from both disc golf users and non-disc golf visitors to the park.

Overall, survey respondents were satisfied with the pilot five-hole disc golf course and wanted to see more holes added at the Greengrove location.

The new Greengrove location joins disc golf options offered throughout the County, including Herb Belcourt Park, Heritage Hills Park and the Strathcona Wilderness Centre.

Residents can look forward to using the new six-hole disc golf course next summer. The installation is scheduled to begin in Spring 2023, weather dependent.
