Strathcona County Transit is honoured to support the Strathcona Food Bank through its 27 annual Stuff-A-Bus event. Stuff-A-Bus is the Strathcona Food Bank’s largest, and this year, only food drive bringing in almost half of their annual intake of donations.

Food bank donations will be accepted at all Sherwood Park Save-On-Foods locations on Saturday, November 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Most needed non-perishable food items include breakfasts foods, mixed beans, broth, fruit cups and mixed vegetables. Other items needed include personal hygiene supplies and pet food for both cats and dogs.

“Our Transit family is always excited to be a part of this event. It gives us the opportunity to come together and give back to our community in a meaningful way,” says long-time volunteer and Strathcona County transit dispatcher, Wayne Morgan. “We’ve noticed the community needs grow during tough economic times. We’ve also observed how generous our community can be, and truly do its best to support those in need. Transit is hoping the bus will be filled to the roof this year!”

The demand in Strathcona County continues to be high. This year alone, the Strathcona Food Bank has supported just over 10,000 individuals who have needed to access the food bank for a wide variety of reasons. That’s an increase of 35 per cent over 2021.

Stuff-A-Bus is a joint venture with Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) who supports the Edmonton Food Bank. Strathcona County Transit and ETS thank their generous sponsors: Save-On-Foods, Postmedia, Edmonton Journal, Edmonton Sun, Global TV, and Breeze 96.3 FM.
