October 4, 2022
Residents have another opportunity to review and share their perspective on an updated draft Community Standards Bylaw. The community is invited to provide feedback to Council via a non-statutory public hearing on October 25, 2022.Â
In June, residents were invited to review a draft of the bylaw and provide feedback through a survey. In response to what was heard, the draft bylaw has been updated. The bylaw aims to establish clear standards of presentation and accountability in our community. It addresses topics including:Â Â
Building, yard and fence maintenanceÂ
Wood burning appliances and nuisance smokeÂ
Nuisance and unsightly propertiesÂ
Excessive noiseÂ
GraffitiÂ
Storing construction materials and debrisÂ
Parking on private propertyÂ
Symbols of hateÂ
About the public hearing:Â
Hearing scheduled for 5 p.m., October 25, 2022Â
Written submissions, visuals, and via Zoom: register by noon, October 24Â
In-person: register in advance or at 5 p.m. at the hearingÂ
To register: legislativeofficer@strathcona.ca or call 780-464-8014 Prior to the hearing, Administration will present a report to Council outlining the key elements of the proposed bylaw, along with the public engagement survey results. The public is then invited to provide feedback to Council via a non-statutory public hearing. Council will consider whether to proceed with the Community Standards Bylaw or invite more opportunities for community engagement. Â
