Street sweeping starts Monday, April 12

Spring cleanup of roads in Sherwood Park will get underway next week in order to enable safe travel for all modes of road transportation.

Sweepers will work in residential areas during the day and on main and arterial roads at night. It will take up to five weeks to clean all roads.

Signs will be posted at least 24 hours before sweepers will begin working in each neighbourhood. Watch for signs in your area, and take these steps to help your street get a clean sweep:

  • Remove parked cars. Vehicles will not be ticketed or towed during street sweeping, but sweepers can do a better job if vehicles are removed from the street.
  • Sweep your sidewalk and driveway in advance. This will help prevent dirt and gravel from getting on the road after the sweepers have done their job.
  • Clear the road. Remove all rubber driveway mats (curb ramps) and any other on-street obstructions, such as basketball nets and waste collection carts.

Sweepers often make several passes down the same road to remove the dirt and debris, depending on the build-up of material on the road.

The order that residential areas will be cleaned is available on the website, and it will be updated as areas are completed: strathcona.ca/sweeping.
