Share your feedback on the new proposed river valley footbridge between Edmonton and Strathcona County

The City of Edmonton, Strathcona County and the River Valley Alliance (RVA) are partnering to fund the planning, design and construction of a new proposed footbridge over the North Saskatchewan River.

This project will create a river valley connection between the City of Edmonton (167 Avenue) and Strathcona County (Township Road 540).

This proposed footbridge will improve access and connectivity, leading towards a continuous multi-use trail system in the North Saskatchewan River Valley. Planning for this footbridge was identified in the City of Edmonton’s Ribbon of Green, the Strathcona County Trail Strategy and the River Valley Alliance’s Plan of Action.

Current work is focusing on concept design planning, which will consider trail connections, open space and recreational amenity upgrades, restoration and enhancement of the environment and supporting access to the new footbridge.

As part of the planning for this project, Indigenous Nations and communities were engaged at an early stage to share insights, concerns, and historical and cultural references about the proposed site.

The public will have an opportunity to learn more about this project at an upcoming online presentation. Following the online presentation, an online survey will be open from April 14 to April 29. The survey will invite public feedback on the site of the footbridge as well as additional amenities.
