Strathcona County recently completed a review of local impacts of an urban chicken pilot program and determined it is not suitable for the needs of the specialized municipality.

Strathcona County was honoured today by the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) with a 2017 Professional Development Award in the 20,001 to 100,000 population category. The award recognizes the county’s priority-based budgeting (PBB) approach to business planning and budgeting. It was presented to county representatives at the CAMA conference in Gatineau, Quebec. 

In a new offering for the 2017 municipal election, Strathcona County will be hosting an information session for citizens interested in running as a candidate for municipal office.

Citizens are invited to complete an online survey to provide feedback on some of the County’s services.

Today, Strathcona County Council approved a Social Framework Policy that intentionally shifts how the community collectively works on social priorities in Strathcona County.

Three new schools will be partnering with Strathcona County to build mental health capacity in youth, through the KEYS program. The KEYS program is delivered by Strathcona County staff and funded by Alberta Health Services and Alberta Community and Social Services.

Strathcona County has been awarded the 2017 ASET Technical Employer of the Year award from the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).

Strathcona County is moving forward with an Area Concept Plan for urban growth in Bremner.

The 2017 Pride of Strathcona Awards recipients have distinguished themselves and contributed to our community in many ways.

In celebration of Arbor Day and Canada’s sesquicentennial anniversary, Grade One students from across Strathcona County will receive a seedling and enjoy educational activities on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Broadmoor Lake Park.
