Candidates confirmed for Strathcona County’s 2025 municipal election

Nominations for candidates closed at 12 noon today.

The following individuals are the official candidates for the positions of Mayor and Councillor.

Candidates have until 12 noon on September 23 to withdraw a nomination. An up-to-date list of candidates and their contact information is available at strathcona.ca/candidates.

If necessary, the County’s Returning Officer will announce candidates elected by acclamation after the withdrawal deadline of 12 noon on September 23.

The lists of school trustee candidates are available on the Elk Island Catholic Schools and Elk Island Public Schools websites.

Candidates for the 2025 election are running in the new ward boundaries, which will come into effect when the new Council is sworn in.

Information for voters

Election Day is Monday, October 20, 2025.

Voter information cards containing details about where and how to vote will be delivered to all Strathcona County residences at the beginning of October.

Eligible voters can cast their votes as early as October 6, the first day of the advance vote period, at any advance voting station from October 6 to 18. Advance vote locations and times, including drive-thru, are available on the Strathcona County website.

Voters can also vote by mail by requesting a special ballot from the Election Office.
