Strathcona County Election Day voter turnout: 4 p.m. update  

Strathcona County is providing an update on voter turnout as of 4 p.m. on Election Day:  

Total number of eligible voters: 79,011 
Advance voting turnout: 6,839 voters (8.66 per cent) 
Election Day turnout: 7,856 voters (9.94 per cent) 
Total turnout (advance voting and Election Day): 14,695 voters (18.6 per cent)  

Final turnout numbers will be available at strathcona.ca/ElectionResults once they have been reported. 

Voting stations are open until 8 p.m. Any resident in line at a voting station at 8 p.m. will still be able to vote. The County encourages all eligible residents to get out and vote today.  
 
Election results  
Election workers will begin hand counting ballots for the advance vote, institutional vote and special ballots at 7:30 p.m. at the Central Count Centre on election night. Workers will begin counting election day vote ballots after the voting stations close at 8 p.m. Live, unofficial results will start to be reported online at strathcona.ca/ElectionResults approximately one hour after all voting stations have closed. Voter turnout numbers will be reported on website after they have been received and verified.

The County expects unofficial results will be reported more slowly than previous elections due to the new provincial requirement to hand count ballots. Strathcona County will not be issuing a news release on unofficial results. All results are considered unofficial until 12 noon on Friday, Oct. 24.
