Strathcona County is excited to introduce its three new ambassadors for the 2023 Special Olympics Alberta Winter Games, taking place February 24 to 26. The combined energy of Madison Bailey-Borges, Declan Fawcett and Evan James are sure to generate excitement leading up to the Games, as well as foster feelings of connectedness between athletes and the community.

A new, modernized and enhanced Responsible Livestock Ownership Bylaw has replaced the Animal Control and Apiculture Bylaws. Approved by Council on October 4, 2022, Bylaw 53-2022 is effective immediately.

The City of Edmonton and Strathcona County are unveiling their new hydrogen fuel cell buses at this weekend’s Electric and Hydrogen Vehicle Expo. Come get a sneak peek of this new hydrogen electric bus technology the City and Strathcona County are testing as part of a province-wide collaboration to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in our region.

The County’s Census 2022 revealed Strathcona County’s population has grown two per cent in the last four years, surpassing the 100K mark at 100,362 people (73,000 in Sherwood Park and 27,362 in the County’s rural areas).
On September 12, Strathcona County welcomed Martin Paulson as the 10th Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Services.
