Century families

The Century Families Project aims to acknowledge and celebrate the profound commitment and heritage of Strathcona County families whose ancestors settled in the County 100 years ago or more. By sharing the stories of century families, we can celebrate our local heritage and help build connections in the community from one generation to the next.

Century Families is one component of Strathcona County’s Community Heritage Legacy Initiative. The vision of this initiative is to foster a strong community, where residents are inspired and share a sense belonging, identity and place from their appreciation of the County’s unique history and heritage.

As we build a collection of stories from the different century families, we will compile them for a collective commemorative history of our community.

Pull up a chair and read about the compelling lives of the Gabert family, Krebs family, McEachern family, Mohr family, Prochnau family and the Schneider family.
