Utilities operates and maintains 582 kilometres of water pipes, 11 water reservoirs, almost 2,500 fire hydrants, and distributes 33.7 million litres of water a day.
We operate three different types of systems:

Our goal is to make sure there’s an adequate supply of safe water to meet your day-to-day needs—and an abundant supply in the event of a fire or other emergency.
Strathcona County Utilities works closely with 45 municipalities in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region to manage water resources.
Strathcona County receives water from the North Saskatchewan River. It originates at the Saskatchewan Glacier in the Rocky Mountains, 500 km southwest of Edmonton.
Drinking water in the County is treated by EPCOR in Edmonton.

Strathcona County is a region leader for taking steps to reduce impacts on our water resources. We are on track with our water conservation, efficiency and productivity target, with residential water use under 200 litres per capita per day despite population growth.
