Strathcona County invites community feedback to shape future recreation and culture
May 1, 2026
Strathcona County is inviting households and youth in Grades 7 to 12 to share their feedback to help shape the next four years of recreation and culture opportunities in the community. Feedback can be submitted by completing an online survey between May 1 and May 22.
Since the last community check‑in in 2023, Strathcona County has made several significant investments in recreation and culture, including:
Opening and beginning operations at The Pointe Agricultural Event Centre.
Developing the Gemstone Gallery on the second floor of Emerald Hills Leisure Centre, which showcases artwork created by local youth artists.
Collaborating with the City of Edmonton and the River Valley Alliance to design and construct Amisk Wâciw Âsokan (Beaver Hills Bridge), a new pedestrian footbridge spanning the North Saskatchewan River and connecting Edmonton and Strathcona County.
Enhancing or adding to a range of outdoor amenities across parks and open spaces, including trails, gazebos, picnic shelters, basketball courts, skate parks, and playground expansions.
Residents who complete the household or youth survey will have the opportunity to enter to win prizes, including a recreation, Jacek Chocolate, or Sin Bin Sports gift card.
Representatives from community, sport, culture and agriculture organizations that deliver recreation and culture opportunities in Strathcona County have also been invited to provide their feedback.
All feedback collected will be reviewed by administration alongside data, and existing policies and frameworks, to inform the next phase of the Recreation and Culture Strategy implementation plan.
