Strathcona County residents are invited to show their community pride and pitch in for a cleaner, healthier environment from April 20 to May 3, 2026. This annual campaign brings volunteers together to remove litter left behind after the spring thaw.

Kick-off event: Residents are invited to the Pitch-In kickoff at Broadmoor Lake Park from 1 to 3 p.m. on April 19. At the event, participants can:

  • Sign up for Pitch-In and choose a green space to clean

  • Pick up garbage bags and treats

  • Join a clean-up of Broadmoor Lake Park during the event

Pitch-In helps protect our local ecosystems, wildlife and the environment, and is a meaningful way for individuals and groups to give back to the community. Last year, more than 1,200 volunteers spent over 1,000 hours cleaning up and beautifying Strathcona County.

Residents and groups are encouraged to participate in their own neighbourhoods or throughout the County. Volunteers may bring their own garbage bags or pick up complimentary bags provided by Strathcona County.

If you cannot attend the kick-off event, bags will be available for pickup at the Recreation, Parks and Culture administration office during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 2025 Oak Street. County staff will confirm cleanup site locations and coordinate bag pick-up for filled garbage bags.

Thank you to all Strathcona County residents for helping keep our community clean, and a special thank-you to TransMountain for sponsoring this year’s Pitch-In initiative.
