Strathcona County presents Common Ground, a new exhibition featuring artwork by 65 members of Gallery@501. Opening May 7, 2026, the exhibition runs through to June 24, 2026.

In Common Ground, artists reflect on what it means to find common ground across Treaty 6 Territory, within communities and through the members’ lived experiences. The exhibition highlights connections found in everyday routines, familiar landscapes, neighbourhood scenes, shared histories and communal life through painting, sculpture, printmaking and fibre arts.

The artists invite viewers to look closely and reflect on the many ways we connect through shared experiences, overlapping stories and mutual understandings. Common Ground becomes both a question and an invitation: where do we connect, and how do we create spaces of belonging?

“We are excited to continue supporting local artist members at all stages of their practice and to showcase their work in this gallery. This is one of the many benefits of becoming a Gallery@501 member,” says curatorial assistant, Diana Ohiozebau. “Common Ground celebrates the creative strengths in our community.”

The annual members’ exhibition provides opportunities for artists to connect, create new work based on a shared theme and learn from one another’s diverse practices. Gallery@501 welcomes artists and arts enthusiasts to become members and to be part of a supportive artistic community.

A creative hub since 2011, Gallery@501 continues to support and inspire a diverse arts community while providing a welcoming space to connect through art. Gallery@501 is celebrating its 15th anniversary and is partnering with the Art Society of Strathcona County for a joint reception also marking the Society's 40th anniversary. The Art Society’s exhibition, Threads That Connect Us, will be on display in the ARTrium from April 3 to June 21, 2026.

The public is invited to attend the exhibition reception on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Strathcona County Community Centre Agora. Admission is free.
