Strathcona County named one of Alberta’s Top 85 Employers
January 27, 2026
Strathcona County is excited to announce that it has, once again, been selected as one of Alberta’s Top 85 Employers in an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. This prestigious designation recognizes Alberta employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional workplaces and the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
"This provincial recognition is a proud moment for Strathcona County,” says Mayor Rod Frank. “This award belongs to our staff and is evidence of high employee engagement, a very important metric. Every day, County employees bring skill, compassion and a can‑do spirit to serving residents, and it shows. I’m proud of our team and the culture we have built together." Employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers using the same eight criteria as the national competition: workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. “Earning a spot among Alberta’s Top Employers reflects a simple truth: great service for residents starts with a great workplace for employees,” says Stacy Fedechko, Chief Administrative Officer. “Thank you to every member of our team for making Strathcona County a place where people can do their best work.” The editors publish detailed “reasons for selection” for these criteria, providing transparency in the selection of winners and a catalogue of best practices for employers and job-seekers alike. You may view Strathcona County’s detailed reasons for selection on the competition website .
The full list of Alberta's Top Employers (2025) was announced today in a special magazine published in the Calgary Herald and the Edmonton Journal and includes a feature article on Strathcona County.
