The countdown is on to the 2026 Alberta Summer Games

This afternoon, Strathcona County and the Strathcona County 2026 Alberta Summer Games Society hosted a kickoff event celebrating the 500-day countdown to the Games.

Strathcona County will host the 25th Alberta Summer Games from July 16 to 19, 2026. Around 5,000 participants are expected to take part in the competitions and festivities.

The 13 sports that will be hosted throughout Strathcona County and neighbouring sites are athletics, basketball, baseball, beach volleyball, canoeing/kayaking, golf, lacrosse, mountain biking, rugby, soccer, softball, swimming and tennis.

The Games will take place at multiple venues including Centennial Park, Millennium Place, Broadmoor Lake Park, Ardrossan Recreation Complex, Emerald Hills Sports Pavilion, Broadmoor Public Golf Course, Broadmoor Tennis Club and the Druids Rugby Club in Strathcona County, as well as Rundle Park in Edmonton and West River's Edge in Fort Saskatchewan.

Also unveiled was the host branding for the event, an eye-catching bison featuring complimentary jewel-toned colours and the catch phrase, “Charge ahead.” The bison represents the spirit of Strathcona County and the dedication and perseverance of athletes participating in the Games. Games merchandise will be available to the public in the coming months.
