With a focus on maintaining existing assets and service levels, today Strathcona County Administration began presenting Council with the proposed 2026 budget which includes a 5.18 per cent municipal tax revenue increase for 2026. This increase is inclusive of the final year of the 2 per cent recreation levy Council approved in 2023.
"We are committed to maintaining high-quality service levels for our community," says Jennifer Cannon, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Corporate Services and CFO. " Given the current economic environment, it’s more important than ever to prioritize our Capital Plan to ensure we meet future needs while safeguarding fiscal responsibility.”
With a proposed 5.18 per cent municipal tax revenue adjustment in 2026, the estimated impact for a typical residence assessed at $475,000 would be about $116 per year, or roughly $10 per month. For a commercial property assessed at $1.98 million, the estimated impact is around $1,093 annually, or $91 per month. Strathcona County is proud to offer the region’s most competitive municipal tax rates with the highest service levels, ensuring residents and businesses continued value for their dollar.
