County preparing to honour Constable Dhami
April 17, 2023

Strathcona County mourns the loss of Constable Harvinder Singh Dhami, who died in the line of duty on April 10, 2023.Â
Strathcona County is working closely with RCMP Alberta to prepare for Constable Dhami’s Regimental Funeral at Millennium Place on April 20, 2023. Â
Due to the large number of mourners, access to the funeral service inside of Millennium Place will be restricted to invited family members, friends and first responders. However, the community is invited to show their support for Constable Dhami’s friends, family and colleagues in the following ways:Â
-
Members of the public are welcome to line the funeral procession route to pay their respects. The funeral procession begins at Bethel Lutheran Church (298 Bethel Drive) at 10 a.m. Visit Strathcona.ca/CstDhami for the route map and parking suggestions.Â
-
A live feed of the funeral service will be provided on the Alberta RCMP YouTube channel.Â
-
The Community Centre’s Agora will be open to the public to watch the live-stream service from 11 am – 2 p.m. (401 Festival Lane, Sherwood Park).Â
-
Messages of condolences may be emailed to RCMP.Condolences-Condoleances.GRC@rcmp-grc.gc.caÂ
-
Constable Dhami believed in service to the community and was a big supporter of the Meals on Wheels program. The family has asked, in lieu of flowers or other donations, for the members of the public to support their local Meals on Wheels program.Â
Operational adjustmentsÂ
To support the regimental funeral, please note the following operational adjustments on April 20:Â
-
Millennium Place and parking lot closed to the public from 5 a.m. until 6 p.m. Â
-
Transit detours for routes 420 and 423Â
-

-

9 a.m.–3 p.m. in honour of the Regimental procession and funeral. The public can access help using the after-hours public phone in the front door of the detachment. For emergencies, please call 9-1-1.Â
