Strathcona County is thrilled to announce the unveiling of “Dancing into the Future,” a captivating addition to the Strathcona County Public Art Collection. Created by Indigenous artist Eugene Alexis of the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, this piece features vibrant dancing colours and celebrates Indigenous culture and peoples.

Strathcona County continues work on a strategy to strengthen, grow and support local agriculture and food production, processing and manufacturing.

Strathcona County’s festival to celebrate local independent restaurants and food trucks, and artists and artisans returns on Sunday, September 10.
 

Strathcona County is pleased to present two new exhibitions by Canadian artists this fall. “Ni'kmaq - My Family” features artwork by Nelson White from St. John's, Newfoundland. “Resilience” features artwork by Margaret Witschl from Edmonton, Alberta and Delio Delgado from Hamilton, Ontario. The exhibits open at Gallery@501 on August 22 and show until October 7, 2023.

On Sunday, August 13, 2023, Strathcona County is hosting L'Etape Canada by Tour de France - a unique cycling event with the history, atmosphere and passion of the legendary Tour de France.

Strathcona County Enforcement Services officers are reminding motorists to drive safely. Traffic enforcement efforts over two weekends in July intercepted several high-speed violations and stunting.

Shovels will hit the ground later this summer marking the formal construction of the Pointe-aux-Pins Acres (The Pointe) agricultural facility, following Council’s approval on the facility design and scope.

On July 10, 2023, Strathcona County Transit will be moving to a new On-Demand booking system and app. The change is a result of valuable transit user experience feedback that further improves the On-Demand local service as the pilot continues through to December of 2024.

Strathcona County is pleased to present “On the Surface”, a new summer exhibition featuring artwork by Jessica Plattner and Jen Pankratz. The exhibit opens at Gallery@501 on July 4 and shows until August 12, 2023.

Strathcona County has reduced its fire ban to a fire advisory effective immediately, due to cooler temperatures, rain and resource availability. Under a fire advisory, fire and fireworks permits are valid however they may be temporarily suspended based on the current conditions. Outdoor recreational fire pits and all barbecues are now allowed.
