The HR Service Centre is responsible for the administration of programs and policies related to functional areas of Human Resources. The Human Resources Service Specialist has a critical role within the team by communicating and processing activities related to the employee lifecycle, from hire to retire. The position requires a proactive approach in anticipating needs and a solutions-oriented mindset to resolving issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery of Human Resources operational processes throughout the employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, employee changes, promotions, compensation, benefits, termination, and off boarding
- Execute transactions both within Oracle HCM and outside of the system
- Day-to-day benefits administration
- Collaborate with Human Resources Business Partners, Payroll, HR Systems, and other teams to ensure that processes and practices are delivered consistently, reliably and in a timely manner
- Act as a subject matter expert on Oracle processes by providing advice, internal consultation, and coaching to others
- Identify gaps/errors, troubleshoot, and work collaboratively with business leaders and other teams to determine the best approach to find a solution
- Create documents, forms and process maps to support HR Service Centre operations
- Provide escalation support for employee and leader inquiries
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma in Human Resources, Management, Business or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources
- Strong knowledge of Human Resources policies, procedures and operating practices
- Experience in benefits administration, preferably in a public sector environment with both union and non-union benefit plans
- Proficiency with Oracle or a similar HRIS; advanced Excel and SharePoint is an asset
- Ability to apply Human Resources principles to various situations with a wide audience, and provide guidance and advice on policy or procedures
- Ability to organize workflow and priorities to meet deadlines
- Creative and resourceful in finding solutions to issues
- Highly analytical with technical aptitude
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism
- Ability to collaborate with and support various stakeholders and build relationships
- Excellent customer service and team skills with a positive and can-do attitude
