Resilience: Finding ways to enjoy our winter

Alberta winters can be long, cold and snowy. Strathcona County has many new and adapted programs for both indoor and outdoor play that can keep you active and chase away those winter blues.
A fire ban has been declared for all of Strathcona County, effective immediately. The ban applies to Sherwood Park and all rural areas and hamlets. Until further notice, no outdoor fires are permitted. This includes burn barrels, fireworks, recreational fire pits and charcoal barbecues, including in campgrounds / parks. The response to the innovative online storytimes has been so positive that they may remain a permanent programming option for the library, once life returns to normal.
With COVID-19 restrictions in place and many people working remotely, the first snow route clearing of the season had to bee coordinated differently.

A couple of weeks before school started, youth had the opportunity to attend an in-person event meeting health and provincial COVID-19 guidelines. Youth shared their talents in art and music, and had safe gathering space to reconnect with each other.
