The Agricultural Framework establishes a vision for the future of agriculture in Strathcona County carrying on the legacy of the Agriculture Master Plan (2015). Shaped by community values and emerging priorities, it will guide future strategies and initiatives related to agriculture across County departments.

Foster the business activities and capacity involved in the production, processing, and distribution of agricultural products to sustain livelihoods and lifestyles.
Grow communication, education, and celebration of agricultural producers, agriculture and agri-food to sustain livelihoods and lifestyles.

The Agriculture Master Plan (9.1Â MB) was developed in 2015. It identified key areas of focus and strategies to support agriculture in Strathcona County. In 2016, the Agriculture Master Plan was recognized with the Planning Excellence by the Canadian Institute of Planners.Â
In 2024, the Master Plan was deemed substantially complete by Council. This initiated the process to create the Agricultural Framework to elevate the importance of agriculture and provide updated outcomes to guide the work of County Council and administration.
We support agriculture through a variety of programs and services shaped by the Agricultural Framework and Master Plan. The following examples highlight this work in action.
