Extreme rainfall has led to localized flooding and high-water levels across Strathcona County. The rain has subsided but water levels remain high and will take time to return to normal. The County is monitoring drainage issues and addressing high-priority cases.

Locations are prioritized as follows:

  • Flooding to private homes/infrastructure

  • Flooding and potential damage to public infrastructure

  • Water in a ditch or yard/land without risk to infrastructure

Stormwater system

  • The water level in many stormwater facilities remains high and will take time to recede to normal levels

  • Utilities will continue to monitor and inspect stormwater facilities

Road closures

Several roads have been closed due to flooding.

  • Lakeland Village entrance (at Cloverbar Road)

  • 34 street between 84 Avenue to 92 Avenue

  • Ranchlands subdivision (localized area)

  • Township Road 522 east of Range Road 215

  • Township Road 540 east of Range Road 213

  • Township Road 540 east of Range Road 223

  • Township Road 540 east Range Road 222

  • Township Road 544 from Range Road 212 to 213

  • Township Road 553 west of Range Road 213

  • Township Road 560 between Range Road 210 to Range Road 212

  • Range Road 205 from Township Road 542 to 544

  • Range Road 223 north of Township Road 544

  • Range Road 232 south of Highway 14

  • Range Road 203 between Township Road 512 and 514A

  • Range Road 213 south of Township Road 553

  • Range Road 215 between Wye Road and Township Road 522

  • Township Road 520 east of Range Road 231

  • Township Road 520 between Range Road 231 and Highway 21

  • Range Road 211 between Township 540 and 542

Service impacts

Questions about impacts to recreation services can be directed through County Connect.

  • Broadmoor Public Golf Course was closed on June 21 and 22. The back nine reopens June 23. Readiness for a full re-opening will be assessed daily.

  • The majority of fields and diamonds are currently closed. Check for status updates.

If you are having a sewer backup or basement flooding, please call 780-467-7785.

High water in a ditch or yard or stormwater pond with no immediate risk to homes or roadways are a lower priority and can be reported online through County Connect.
