Job Description

The Platform Solutions Lead is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of a suite of platform solutions that enhance both internal and public-facing services, improve customer experience, and support efficient service delivery. This strategy underpins the vision for strategic platforms, focusing on building an ecosystem of reusable solutions that provide business value and improve customer experiences across Strathcona County.

The Platform Solutions Lead plays a crucial role in aligning strategic direction and operational execution across the Strategic Platforms branch by actively collaborating with the Application Services Team Lead, the Productivity Systems Team Lead, and the Strategic Platforms Manager. By fostering open communication and shared accountability, the Lead helps streamline internal processes, enhances platform usability, and drives innovation across systems platforms. Leading a team of analysts, the Lead identifies opportunities to standardize and improve processes, enabling digital transformation through automation, self-service, and simplified solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for implementing and managing services, procedures, tools, and documentation while developing and maintaining standards and practices for scalable, secure, and efficient solutions; this role will anticipate, design, and implement technology platform solutions, while providing strategic guidance to business architects, business relationship managers, and clients to ensure solutions are evolving, viable, sustainable, and aligned with organizational objectives, IT strategies and technological advancements
     
  • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative environment while providing expert guidance and support to enhance team capabilities. This position will manage competing priorities and direct the workload of the team in alignment with department and County priorities. This position leads the team through the configuration and development of PaaS and SaaS and develop and maintain centralized external identity management and other customer experience initiatives
     
  • Model excellent communication and customer service skills within the team and across the County clearly communicating opportunities, changes, and service impacts that are relevant to staff and departments. Working closely with the manager, this position prepares communications and presentations delivering clear messaging for senior-level audiences, ensuring effective information dissemination and organizational alignment

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma or Degree in computing science, Business Administration, or another related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of experience in an enterprise IT environment

  • Proven experience managing complex IT projects and portfolios and previous experience managing a hybrid/remote workforce

  • ITIL and Change Management certifications would be considered assets

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft cloud ecosystem of tools including the ability to develop and maintain scalable, secure, and efficient solutions

  • Expertise in PaaS/SaaS application configuration and development, utilizing Agile and Scrum methodologies to deliver projects effectively

  • Strong knowledge of centralized identity management systems, particularly for external-facing solutions

  • Experience in application/solution architecture including standardization and solution reuse, ensuring cost-effective and simplified solutions

  • Advanced ability to build and maintain relationships, communicate and collaborate with stakeholders, find common ground, communicate progress and risks, and help others thrive in a continually changing environment

  • Ability to apply systems thinking and strategic management in a complex multi-stakeholder environment to understand the big picture while focusing on details, identifying connections, assessing impacts, managing risks, and uncovering opportunities
