Job Description

Strathcona County is seeking an experienced and results-driven professional to lead its Print and Mail operations. As Supervisor, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of print production, facility signage and mail services. This role involves supervising a skilled team, overseeing budget and procurement activities, and consulting with departments to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions. 


With a strong focus on service continuity, customer satisfaction, print innovation and adherence to brand standards, the Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring efficient service delivery across the organization. The ideal candidate brings extensive knowledge of print production technologies, mail logistics, and vendor coordination, along with proven leadership experience in a commercial print environment.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage daily print, signage, and mail operations with a focus on efficiency, quality, and cost control 
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure high standards of print and mail services, ensuring brand adherence and reputation management
  • Strategize, plan for and address any service disruptions (i.e. postage strike, equipment failure, resource issues)
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and supervision of all print equipment to ensure efficient workflows, high-quality outputs, alignment with industry standards and implement corrective actions if required
  • Influence business decisions by providing strategic consultation, shaping Print and Mail Shop strategies, and ensuring high-quality, timely customer service
  • Supervise and support a team of print and mail professionals, promoting a collaborative culture 
  • Engage regularly with departments leaders to provide expertise and guidance on all print, mail, and signage-related questions and projects
  • Provide financial and budget management as well as manage branch procurement requirements, including services, materials and products
  • Drive innovation and recommend enhancements across printing, signage, and mail services 
  • Advise on promotional product procurement, aligning with organizational needs and budget 
  • Stay current with industry standards and technologies to maintain high-quality service delivery 


 


Qualifications and Skills:


  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a commercial print shop environment, including at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity 
  • Certification in business, graphic design or a related field would be considered an asset  
  • Background in business ownership or management within the printing industry would be an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of print production, including offset and digital printing, bindery processes, and paper specifications
  • Experience with mail campaigns and knowledge of Canada Post requirements 
  • Familiarity with wide-format printing and signage production
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to consult on print and mail projects to influence business decisions
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, human resources and safety standards

     


Conditions of Employment: 


  • Submission of a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Class 5 driver’s license 
  • Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
