Multiple casual contract Aquatic Fitness Instructors and Chronic Conditions Fitness Instructors
The Adult Wellness Programming team is seeking dedicated contract instructors to lead specialty fitness programs, including aquatic and chronic health conditions.
As a Contract Fitness Instructor, you will work on a casual, contract basis, shifts may vary and can include daytime, evening, and weekends. Classes run weekly for multiple weeks or on a drop-in basis.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality fitness classes for participants in a safe, engaging, and positive environment Classes may include individual wellness center programs, group-based programs, and water-based programs
- Supervise participants and create class plans with appropriate progressions and adaptations based on participant abilities
- Collaborate and positively interact with the Adult Wellness Programming team
- Manage equipment, including the setup and takedown of program areas
Aqua Fitness Instructors will have:
- Proof of AFLCA/Fitness Alberta Aquatic Exercise Specialty or WaterART Aqua Fitness certification
- Proof of Standard First Aid and CPR C Certification
Chronic Conditions Instructors will have:
- Experience working with participants with chronic conditions
- Proof of Standard First Aid and CPR C Certification
- Certifications in CSEP-CEP (Clinical Exercise Physiologist) and/or ACSM-CEP (American College of Sports Medicine) is considered an asset
What you bring:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in exercise instruction
- Group Exercise Certification (Fitness Alberta, canfitpro) is considered an asset
- Demonstrated leadership, customer service, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining safety, quality, and a high level of professionalism
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently
- Adaptable to different environments and evolving participant needs
