Family and Community Services (FCS) is committed to providing high-quality public services and support in an environment that is safe for all visitors, participants, and staff members.

All FCS visitors, participants and employees of Strathcona County have the right to enjoy an environment based upon mutual respect, dignity and fairness.Â
Creating a safe and respectful environment is everyone's responsibility. Follow the guidelines below while accessing all programs and services offered by Family and Community Services including visiting our facilities or participating in programs hosted in the community. Staff may refuse service or ask anyone not following the guidelines below to leave the facility or program.Â
Use of recording devices
Respect the privacy of our community members and staff: no recordings, audio or video, may be taken without expressed permission granted from all individuals featured in the recording. Please be considerate of others who may be in the background of your recordings, especially when photographing/recording during a program.Â
No recordings, audio or video, may be made or kept from any sessions held either in person, virtually, or over the phone. This includes all counselling, Solutions Navigation, Family Resource Network, and Support Outreach Services sessions.
FCS staff members have the right to refuse service if they suspect they are being recorded.Â
Visitor age and supervision
Solutions Navigation services are available to individuals classified as an independent youth and older. An independent youth is defined as an individual aged 16 to 17 who is living independently of guardians and can demonstrate their ability to provide informed consent to receive services.Â
Counselling services are available to individuals 8 years and above. Individuals under the age of 16 years old will require parental/guardian consent prior to counselling and must be accompanied by an adult.Â
The Family Resource Network support and services are available to anyone who is pregnant or taking care of children, regardless of age.
Children attending appointments with a parent or caregiver must be a minimum of 8 years old to sit in the waiting room unattended. Children under the age of 8 years old, must have a responsible individual who is 14 years of age or older accompanying them at all times.Â
Drug and alcohol use
Drug and alcohol usage is not permitted at any Family and Community Service facility or program. Individuals under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be provided with service and asked to return when they are no longer under the influence.Â
Abusive language
Individuals engaging in abusive language, including but not limited to racist or sexist comments or sexualized language, offensive or obscene language, will not be provided with service and asked to leave. Determining what qualifies as abusive language is at the discretion of Family and Community Services staff.Â
